THE STORY BEHIND THE COOKIE

Cookies and Cream Detroit was born from a late-night craving and a spark of inspiration on the West Coast. In 2015, founder Jason Shaifer discovered the magic of a warm cookie and ice cream combination in Berkeley, California—and knew he had to bring that same experience back home to Michigan.

What started as an idea quickly turned into a dream on wheels. After finding and transforming a vintage 1971 Ford camper into a fully custom dessert truck, Jason hit the road in 2016—and Cookies and Cream Detroit hasn’t stopped spreading smiles since.

From weddings and corporate events to festivals and private celebrations, the truck became a Michigan favorite known for its warm cookies, over-the-top ice cream sandwiches, and signature creations made with Guernsey ice cream. Along the way, the brand has served everyone from local families to celebrities and public figures, building a reputation for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories.

Now approaching its 10-year anniversary, Cookies and Cream Detroit continues to serve up joy—one cookie sandwich at a time—as a proud black-owned, family-run business redefining what dessert experiences can be.
